‘I told her I don’t want anyone parking in my driveway, period’: Duplex resident snaps at neighbor who keeps blocking single-car driveway “just for a bit” everytime she can’t find street parking

Some people see a driveway and decide it's the solution to their parking crisis. In this duplex, one resident actually needs the space, mostly for normal stuff like coming home and unloading groceries after work. The neighbor, rocking a collection of cars big enough for a rental agency, has an open-door policy on "just a few minutes," usually at the absolute least convenient time. Every slow roll into someone else's parking spot is brushed off with an eye roll and a speech about how nothing is getting damaged, so no harm, no foul.

This is how "temporary" turns into a game of musical chairs that leaves someone circling the block, wondering if living with strangers would be less annoying. Honking cues the neighbor to stroll out like she's being summoned from a spa appointment, then grabs the chance to remind everyone how little she believes in private property lines. Announcing a tow truck threat sends her rants about community values into overdrive, painting anyone with boundaries as uptight for not wanting to share hard-won parking with a stranger's family fleet.

  • Turns out, in some neighborhoods, neighborly just means making life easier for the person least interested in following actual rules. Defending the right to a single-car driveway makes a villain out of the person who pays for it. Maybe some places run on borrowed spaces and borrowed patience, but boundaries were invented for a reason. Courtesy should come standard, no one signs up to turn small talk into daily traffic control.
